New European Bauhaus Festival I 2024
We participated in the #NewEuropeanBauhaus Festival FAIR, which was held in Brussels, Belgium between 9 - 13 April and organized by the European Commission in cooperation with #EU2024BE, as the first team and project selected from Turkiye, and we represented our country!

We exhibited our Once Waste: Collaborative Recycling Pavilion project among 50 projects and had the opportunity for new collaborations across Europe.
The project asks, “Can what was once “waste” actually become production itself?” The pavilion explores the use of waste materials as potential building materials by transforming them into architectural elements.We also held a workshop with festival participants in the LAB area!
The Once Waste LAB workshop allowed participants to freely combine pavilion modules and create unique structures, just like a "city-scale" puzzle, enabling them to develop creative solutions with a participatory and interdisciplinary approach based on sustainable, inclusive and aesthetic principles of resilient cities of the future.
In addition, we created the New European Bauhaus Manifesto, established under the leadership of the EU Commission and Solar Solidarity, with a team of 15 people, including Naz Şerife Özcan and Zeynep Ünsal from our team! The created manifesto was exhibited with a performance at the NEB Festival.
We shared Türkiye's NEB perspective with Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, Iliana Ivanova, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, and Elisa Ferreira, Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms.Permanent Representative of the Republic of Türkiye to the European Union Mr. Faruk Kaymakcı welcomed us in his office and shared his congratulations for being the only team in Türkiye to advance active work in the field of New European Bauhaus. They conveyed their full support for the further development of the necessary contacts under the leadership of Aks for Turkiye's more active participation in the NEB area.
Important visits were made to our pavilion in the fairground. Mr. Umut Deniz, Consul General of Türkiye in Bruxelles.
Learned the details of our project, conveyed his high appreciation and hosted us in his office.The President of the Architects' Council of Europe, Ms. Ruth Schagemann conveyed her congratulations and shared her satisfaction for our participation. GoFor, recognized by EU Youth Forum as the Youth Council of Türkiye, also came together with us in our project area.Founded in 2019 in Ankara and realizing projects in the fields of architecture, design, urbanism and culture, Aks continues its global work, especially in the European Union!
